ABOUT ME

created by Jordan D. White,
based on the works of Jack T. Chick

Jack Chick is a cartoonist and Christian who has devoted quite a bit of his life to creating and distributing small religious "tracts", or little bitty comic books about Jesus and Christianity. They make all manner of proclamations about how one should live, what one needs to do to get to heaven, why other religions are wrong, what the devil is up to, and such topics. My wife, Devon, began a collection of these tracts, and we like to read them and... let's say "ponder their validity".

Thus, Tract or Fiction? was born. Each episode, we examine one of the tracts in detail, and follow it up with a debate on its correctness. The actual debates are fully improvised. The "debaters" are improvised characters, and they don't know what side of the debate they are on until a coin is flipped to determine it (coincidentally, the same way the winner is decided at the end of the debate). The first season went well, so we continued, moving from live recording to studio recording with our third season, and ending with season four.

At this site, Monsterwax's Jack Chick site, you can look up all these tracts on the net, listed in alphabetical order. You can read along with the tracts as you listen, which is great fun, and you can see what was in the original and what was tweaked.

Each episode is broke up into 2 files: one with the examination of the contents of the tract, and one featuring the deabte. All episodes are in mp3 format, at 128 kbps.

*A note about music- aside from the theme song, these tracks are presented without music. When played over the air, I tend to play movie soundtracks in the background, to enhance the mood. That music was, of course, owned by someone else. Feel free to experiment with your own background music!
