ABOUT ME

O Eddie

by The Perfectly Normal Band

O Eddie - 01-26-04

I wrote the lyrics for this song as part of play for a playwriting class back in undergrad. The assignment was to write a play based on the Greek tales of the house of Atreus, so I did mine as a punk band, and this was the song they performed (about another Greek tale, of course). The song was way better than the play, so I kept it in mind. When Mike came to visit me last year, we recorded the music for the song, but we didn't ever finish the vocals. Over Christmas, we recorded the vocals. Now you can hear it in all it's glory.

Lyrics:
Little Eddie was a boy on my street
Couldn’t play ball, he had these holes in is feet
But we’d all get in trouble when Eddie was bad
Especially the time when he iced his fuckin Dad, now
He doesn’t give a shit what anyone thinks
Not since he out smarted that damned bully Sphinx
But you won’t find him out here lookin’ for love
Apparently, his mommy gives him enough, yeah

Oh, mommy mommy, see how good I am bein’?
(Yes, dear…)
Oh, mommy mommy, won’t you please tuck me in?
(Right here…)
Pay no attention to those prophets of doom,
(No, dear…)
Just let one part of me return to the womb!

That mother fucker got us all in a jam
But now he’s left Thebes and he’s out on the lam
And we’re still incurring the wrath of the gods
Just cause that asshole thought he could beat the odds, yeah
We tried to warn him, but Eddie was blind
He didn’t see that his fate was assigned
I guess mom’s mouth was full from sucking his dick
That’s why she didn’t warn he’d put an eye out with that stick, now

Oh, mommy mommy, see how good I am bein’?
(Yes, dear…)
Oh, mommy mommy, won’t you please tuck me in?
(Right here…)
Pay no attention to those prophets of doom,
(No, dear…)
Just let one part of me return to the womb!
